On August 24, 2004, the Ministry of Transport of the Netherlands fired the starting pistol for the second test run of 60-ton lorries in the Netherlands.
This test aims at checking advantages and disadvantages of these vehicles. At the end of 2006, the final decision is expected on whether 60-ton lorries will be introduced in the Netherlands. In 2000, a first test with four vehicles was carried out. In the second test, up to 300 vehicles in total can be licensed.
The maximum vehicle length is 25.25 metres. Compared to 40-ton vehicles, these vehicles are intended to achieve fuel savings of up to 30%.
